In Local News…

The Manhattan Mercury Reports…Commissioner Bob Strawn says he will not run for re-election next April. Strawn’s seat is one of three seats up for grabs. The other two are occupied by Mayor Bruce Snead and Jayme Morris Hardeman. Snead and Hardeman have yet to indicate their intentions to run for re-election.

According to the KC Star….Kstate has picked the design to honor the nearly eighty five hundred kstate students who served in World War Two. The design will be unveiled at a ceremony on Wednesday. The sculpture is called Tags of Honor. The memorial will be built in the center of the circular drive in McCain. The due date for Tags of Honor is Memorial Day.

KSNT reports…24 year old Phil-ih-mon Ca-lay-ya is dead. Cal-lay-ya lost control of his vehicle while heading southbound on K-18. The vehicle flipped over multiple times. Cal-lay-ya was not wearing a seatbelt and was subsequently ejected from the vehicle. Passenger Xenon Cal-lay-ya was taken to Mercy Hospital with injuries.

In State News…

Topeka has its 13th homicide of the year and its victim is 36 year old Joanna Ahern. Police recently arrested Ernest Are-ce-no. Police discovered Ahern’s body at the Brookwood apartments last week. Police are still searching for a motive.

Seaman high school is heading to the big apple. 190 students boarded four large buses yesterday. The school’s band will be partaking in the Veteran’s Day Parade on Thursday. Band Director Cary Staley said the students will attend a Broadway show and visit other historical sites. Staley adds that the band makes an annual trip ever year. Last year the band competed in a national festival in Colorado.

In Entertainment News…
The Ap reports…Lindsey Lohan’s mother Dina Lohan said Lindsey’s recent stay in rehab was life-changing. Lindsey stayed at the world-renowned Betty Ford Clinic where she underwent treatment for her substance abuse problems. Dina said the clinic brought Lindsey’s problems to the surface. She adds that her daughter is completely different person.
