In Local News…
Senior Kevin Arpin from Randolph won a national engineering award. Arpin won a ten thousand dollar scholarship from the American Council of Engineering Companies. Arpin traveled to Puerto Rico to attend the companies fall conference. Arpin also received his award. Arpin credited K-state with his success. Arpin adds, "My winning this scholarship goes to show, yet again, that a K-State education stands shoulder-to-shoulder with those of nationally renowned universities”

A delegation from China’s Jilin University will be at Kansas State this Friday and will stay through the 21st. Program Coordinator for the Office of International Programs Kathleen Witcher adds that Jilin University is one of the best universities in china. The universities hope to become involved in a strategic partnership. Two Chinese art exhibits located at the International Grain Science and Industry Complex will mark the visit. Both exhibits are free and available to the public.

In State News..

According to the Topeka Capitol Journal…
A chubby man with blonde hair and bad teeth robbed a Sonic carhop last night. Police say the carhop was not injured and no weapon was shown during the robbery. At the time of the crime, the criminal was in a silver sport utility vehicle with tinted windows. If you have any information call the Topeka Crime Stoppers at 785 234 0007

The AP reports…a bank teller in Overland Park had quite the day yesterday. Police received a call from a US Bank teller that said he had been kidnapped in the parking lot of his apartment complex. The teller was then forced by the kidnapper to drive him to the bank. The teller was then forced to open the bank and was rob it. A co-worker found the teller tied to a chair around 7:30 yesterday morning. As of yesterday three people were taken in to custody but no charges were filed and no other details were released. The FBI has taken over the investigation. FBI Spokeswomen Bridget Patton said US Bank was offering a one hundred thousand dollar award if anyone had any information about the robber.

Shawnee Police put out a notice on a man who offered cookies to a 9 year old girl on Tuesday. Police say a man driving a silver car pulled up to ask the girl who was outside playing wanted any cookies and held up a bucket. The girl subsequently ran in to her apartment.

In Entertainment News….

88 year old Betty White has been made an honorary forest ranger. Don’t expect the actress to put out any fires though. White has dreamed of being a forest ranger since she was a little girl but women were not allowed to have the job. White was presented with a ranger’s stenson hat and a badge on Tuesday.
